ART + SCIENCE OF PRESENTING SERIES : SESSION ONE

  • McKinney House 457 Ruthven Street Toowoomba City, QLD, 4350 Australia (map)

Session 1 : Overcoming the fear of presenting.

Do you turn into a nervous wreck at the thought of presenting to a group of people? Well you are not alone. A recent study found that almost 50% of people rated public speaking as one of their three greatest fears (right up there with spiders).

Luckily help is at hand. There are ways we can overcome our fears and this workshop will show you how. Walk away with skills and techniques designed to enhance your confidence when presenting.

Topics covered include.

The physiology of confidence : Understand the physiology of success. Learn ‘tricks’ to enhance your own confidence and project an individual persona of “I’m in control and looking forward to delivering an effective and engaging presentation”. These include

  •  Mastery of Posture
  •  Use of gestures
  • Personal imagery
  • Control of voice

Nailing the opening : Nothing helps your confidence then delivering a powerful beginning. But the beginning starts when participants walk into the room. It includes how you sit/stand before you speak, how you interact with the lectern or platform and so much more. Use the physiology of excellence to help you ‘nail your opening’

The power of a good story : Part of developing confidence is being comfortable in what you are saying. Using a story connects you with your audience and helps you relax and work into your presentation. Stories are a fundamental ‘ice breaker’ and people like stories. We can use them to enhance our feelings of confidence and project authenticity and control.

  • Learn a simple framework for developing effective stories
